Product Details The DST micro-TD is the world's smallest temperature and depth logging archival fish tag, ideal for very small fish or marine animals for long-term behaviour and migration studies. Developed in cooperation with fish biologists, it is suitable for long-term studies of small fish, smolt, and marine animals due to its high reliability and long lifetime despite its small size (25.4 mm x 8.3 mm, 3.3 g in air). Small and reliable archival fish tag Long life and flexible interval setup Depth sensors for different ranges Fish implantation or external attachment User defined text on the housing The DST micro-TD is designed for migration, feeding, and dive behavioral studies of small fish, seabirds, and marine animals. The recorded time series data enable scientists to gain valuable information on migration routes and behavioural patterns over a long period. The tag can be implanted or attached externally. It can store 87,168 measurements in total, allowing data storage for up to 2.5 years at a 30-minute interval. The logger can be set to record with multiple intervals, shifting between different intervals during the measuring period, and allows different intervals for measuring depth and temperature. Depth calibration options: 150 m, 300 m, or 1000 m. The shallower the range, the better the resolution and accuracy. The logger is designed for implantation in the abdominal cavity or external attachment using a tag holder kit, ensuring easier and safer attachment. Tags can have customized text for recapture purposes, important for commercially fished species. A yellow plastic tube (spaghetti tag) can be attached for easier spotting of tagged fish. Using the logger The logger and accompanying items are designed for ease of use throughout the research process, from setup to data retrieval. Supported by SeaStar software and a Communication Box (purchased with the first order). The logger is programmed via the Communication Box connected to a PC, where the user sets the start time, date, and sampling interval. The tag synchronizes its internal clock with the computer. Sampling can be set at a single interval or multiple intervals (up to seven different intervals). The software calculates memory fill and battery consumption based on interval settings. After recapture, data is uploaded to the software, displayed in graphic and tabular form, and can be exported. The tag can be reused as long as the battery lasts (several years depending on usage). Accessories Communication Box: Interface between DST and PC for starting the logger and retrieving data. SeaStar software: For Windows, displays data in graph and table, allows export. Plate Holder Kit: For external attachment, includes wire fasteners, plastic holder plate, silicone pads, and optional needles for threading wires through fish. Capsule Holder Kit: Plastic capsule with holes for water flow, wire harness, plastic plate, and silicone pads for comfort and descaling prevention. Floating Device: For internal or external tagging, available in two sizes, can be coated or painted for visibility.
